Parrot Education & Adoption Center

For over nine years now, I have been providing the catering for Parrot Education and Adoption Center – San Diego’s conferences and special events. By volunteering to do this, I have benefited in so many ways. I get to attend every one of these special events, meet new people, and share bird stories!

When Bonnie Kenk added the new workshop “Socialization Training for You and Your Bird,” we decided that because of the time and location, we needed to provide lunch.

The first Socialization Training workshop I catered, I wasn’t sure what the class was all about, or even whether there were going to be birds there. I went prepared to keep drinks cold, cookies flowing, and lunch delivered on time.

I had an excellent time! I learned so much! Three people brought their birds and were given the opportunity to individually share some of their problems and get feedback, not just from our resident Parrot Behavior Consultant (Bonnie), but from the group, as well. We discussed everything from feeding, exercise, bathing, sexual behavior, and special needs of each individual bird there, to questions we had about other birds in our lives.

This is an excellent way to not only get individual help for your bird, but listen to and observe how others cope with and handle their day-to-day lives with these great companions.

And lunch is on me!
